One of or few of a kind jewelry. It is made from a mix of vintage and new in a way that makes it unique from other jewelry lines. Much of it is designed so you can add clip on charms and pendants, many that were reused and modified from older jewelry.I also do beautiful beaded pieces using silver, gold vermeil, gemstones, pearls and glass beads.
I had very good success this summer marketing some of it as “make your own jewelry” for a “neck mess” which is a trend. The customer picked a chain or a beaded piece and I helped them add the charms and pendants that looked amazing together. It was interactive and they felt very connected to the piece they ended up with
I make jewelry using new materials, vintage sourced material, and parts from jewelry that I’ve collected as a sales rep.
30 years ago I was a buyer for a high end jewelry, clothing and craft gallery in Bethesda Md. We traveled the country looking for the right product mix of new, interesting, artist made and sellable items. One day I was reading the book called The Artists Way. I woke the next morning having finished chapter 1 the day before and said “ I don’t need to read this right now. I need to make jewelry”. And I was off. I sold it exclusively at my store and could not make it fast enough.
Fast forward 5 years to my leaving that position and opening my own sale representation company. I had an evolving group of from 10-30 artists that I worked with. Some were new to wholesale and I helped them develop and package their product for retail partners. Others were well established which helped me learn more about how to sell my own work. I sold to jewelry stores, craft and art galleries, museum shops, gift and clothing boutiques throughout the mid Atlantic states.
When we moved from the dc area to rehoboth beach I put my jewelry business on hold while I traveled more for my repping work. After a few years I slowly started back up,diving into my huge inventory of beads, metals, and findings. I kept a few retail accounts and sold at some local shows.
3 years ago I realized that my creativity needed a boost. I rented studio space at DAC and made a commitment to a new idea. I had a huge source for making new jewelry that was basically being stored in my garage. 25 years of jewelry repping= bins of unsellable “vintage” jewelry from companies that were no longer in business. I started taking everything apart, from chains, closures, pendants , beads, charms etc. I started mixing these with new, modern and “trendy” parts to create the line I currently have.
I know that one of the criteria here is for consisteny. My line is not that. It’s based more on 1 of a kind changeable looks.
