The Shabby Mermaid
Nora Drayton
Friday, November 29th
Coastal jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, earrings) made with sea glass, sea shells, driftwood and gemstones. Home decor items include decoupaged sea shells, shell mirrors and wreaths, sea glass shadow boxes, and driftwood sailboats.
A love of the ocean and beachcombing, drove Nora Drayton to establish her own business creating coastal jewelry and home decor. She spent every summer as a kid in Fenwick Island, where she and her mom were avid beachcombers. She would return to the beach as often as possible, and after years spent working in the corporate world, purchased her own home in Ocean City, where she creates full time. Along the way she began refreshing vintage furniture, giving it new life, that’s where “shabby” came into the mix. She still dabbles in furniture from time-to-time but has shifted mostly to coastal jewelry and home decor using many found objects. Her design style is casual, sometimes whimsical. Her work is available through local shows as well as several gift stores and galleries on the Eastern Shore.
